Butler Police8:34 p.m. Wednesday — A van driven by Anthony W. Anzalone, 54, of New Castle and a car driven by Tyler F. Stefanik, 25, of Center Township collided at West Jefferson and South Washington streets. Police said Anzalone was cited for going the wrong way on a one-way street.
Butler Twp. Police8:20 p.m. Wednesday — Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash on Freeport Road in front of the Sheetz store that sent one driver to the hospital with injuries.The crash happened when an unidentified car leaving the store parking lot struck a car driven by Elaine Lydon, 40, of Butler. The collision sent Lydon’s car into a spin and over a small hill.Lydon was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for moderate injuries. The unknown driver fled the scene, leaving behind a blue front bumper and headlight from what police believe to be from a Chevrolet Cavalier or Cobalt.Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.10:19 a.m. Tuesday — Michael Ilyankoff, 64, of Cheswick, Allegheny County, was arrested for felony shoplifting after he allegedly stole cat treats and ate two pieces of candy off the shelf as he walked through Bilo Foods in Point Plaza. The stolen property is worth a combined $4.39.Ilyankoff is charged with a felony count of retail theft, police said, because this is his third shoplifting offense.Monday — Police charged Jeremy Charles Oesterling, 33, of Butler selling about 200 feet of copper wire to a salvage yard. The wire was reported stolen that same day, and was stolen from a vehicle sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning.Oesterling is charged with receiving stolen property and theft by deception.
Grove City Police1:51 p.m. Nov. 24 — A car driven by Danielle McCanna of Jackson Center sideswiped another vehicle on George Junior Road. Connie Deniker of Polk, Venango County, was the other driver.4:56 p.m. Wednesday — Alexander Fry, 18, of Williamsport, Lycoming County, was arrested at Grove City College for possession of a small amount of marijuana and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.Nov. 17 — A Mitsubishi Eclipse owned by Abby Tobias, 24, of Grove City was damaged overnight in the parking lot of the Gilmore Street Apartments. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 724-458-7925
State Police, Butler6:52 p.m. Tuesday — Two people were hurt when a car driven by Michelle A. Schnur, 52, and a pickup truck driven by Rodney L. O’Donnell, 52, both of Butler collided on Routes 68 and 38 in Summit Township.Schnur and Benjamin P. Pascazi Jr., 73, of Butler, a passenger in the truck, suffered minor injuries; both were wearing seat belts.Nov. 21 — An unknown thief stole a Chicora woman’s cell phone at the Subway restaurant in the Clearview Mall, Center Township. The woman told police she had placed the phone near the pop machines and left. When she returned, the phone was gone. The theft happened between 1 and 2 p.m.
State Police, Mercer8 p.m. Nov. 28 — A 17-year-old Philadelphia boy was arrested after attacking a staff member at the George Junior Republic juvenile detention facility in Pine Township. The boy allegedly punched the staffer in the face several times. The victim, police said, was treated at Grove City Medical Center for injuries in the alleged assault.The boy, who police did not identify, is charged in Mercer County juvenile court with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.
State Police, New CastleMonday — An unknown vandal or vandals scratched the vehicles of Mark E. Martin, 42, of Scott Township, Lawrence County, and Kathleen L. Gould, 44, of Washington Township, Lawrence County, while the vehicles were parked on Rocky Springs Road in Scott Township. Each vehicle sustained $1,000 in damage.
