SRU men claim record 6th tie

A scoreless double-overtime draw against West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday netted the Slippery Rock University men's soccer team its school-record sixth tie.

Clayton Master recorded eight saves to give him his seventh shutout of the year for SRU (7-3-6), which had five ties during the 1954 season.

Women's SoccerSRU clinched a PSAC playoff berth with a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Edinboro Saturday.Lauren Impey scored on an assist from Stephanie Buckenheimer, which gave The Rock (9-4-2, 6-4-2) the early lead.Dana O'Neill made seven saves for SRU.

Field HockeyIndiana (Pa.) scored two goals in the final 15 minutes to down SRU 2-1 in their final regular season game Sunday.Ally Banks accounted for the lone goal for The Rock (8-9, 5-5), who received six saves from Courtney Lee.

VolleyballDespite nine kills from Sarah Cadwallader and six more from Caroline Houston, SRU was swept by Gannon 25-16, 25-22, 25-21 on Saturday.Janna Reilly added 16 assists and Hanna McShea 11 digs for the Rock (14-12, 7-6).

Cross-CountryThe SRU men's squad placed fourth and the women's team was sixth at the PSAC Championships at Cooper's Lake Campground Saturday.Chris Grooms (Butler, 26:17) and Michael Beegle (26:22) led the way for SRU with 14th- and 17th-place performances, respectively.The top-five SRU runners finished within 13 seconds of each other.Stephanie Case finished in 12th place with a time of 22:49, while Kara Styles was 18th at 23:17 to lead The Rock.Edinboro University won the men's race, while Shippensburg captured its fifth consecutive crown in the women's race.

FootballGrove City College held a 37:18-to-22:42 advantage in time of possession and limited Thomas More to 52 yards rushing, but the Saints still came away with a 27-0 victory at Thorn Field.Anthony Ritchie led Grove City with six catches for 70 yards, while Seneca Valley graduate Dustin Anewalt added six receptions for 39 yards.Mars graduate Shane Kaclik led all rushers with 62 yards on 22 carries.
