Leroy Smith

Leroy Smith of Clarion will celebrate his 90th birthday with an open house for family and friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 20 at First Baptist Church, Main Street, Clarion.

Smith was born in 1922 in Sarver. He married the late Dorothy McFarland on Dec. 15, 1942, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sarver.

He has four children, Donna Briesemeister of Washington Island, Wis., Dennis Smith of Scotch Hill, Gary Smith of Sligo and Gregg Smith of Clarion.

He also has four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Smith is a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving in Europe from the Invasion of Normandy until VE-Day.

He also retired in 1988 as a supervisor for the C and K Coal Company in Clarion.

Smith attends First Baptist Church in Clarion.
