The Hartzells in 1947

Dale and Bette Hartzell of Butler celebrated 65 years of marriage with a family dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Pittsburgh.

Hartzell married the former Bette Shumway on Aug. 26, 1947, at Ward Memorial Presbyterian Church in Detroit.

They have four children, David Hartzell of Saxonburg, James Hartzell of Poland, Ellen Knox of Butler and Sarah Giamporcaro of Wylie, Texas.

They also have seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Hartzell is a retired dairy farmer and owner of Hays and Hartzell Realty.

Mrs. Hartzell was a Navy Wave and is a homemaker.

The Hartzells are members of Community Alliance Church.
