Butler Township Police7:49 p.m. Thursday — Carrie Reid, 35, of Butler was charged with retail theft and driving under suspension after she allegedly tried to steal $217 worth of merchandise, including perfume and necklaces, from Kohl’s department store in Butler Crossing. Joshua Woods, 24, of Kittanning was charged with retail theft after he allegedly tried to steal $75 worth of cologne in the same incident.2:30 p.m. Thursday — April Hemphill, 26, of Butler was charged with retail theft after she allegedly tried to steal $36 worth of items from Kohl’s department store in Butler Crossing. A juvenile girl from Butler also was charged with retail theft after she allegedly tried to steal about $72 worth of merchandise in the same incident.Wednesday — Matthew Dipner, 28, of New Castle was charged with harassment after he allegedly hit a 23-year-old woman in the mouth at the Butler Days Inn, breaking her tooth.

State Police, Butler5:40 a.m. Friday — Police are searching for the driver of an orange 2006-2008 Chevrolet HHR after the vehicle crashed into a utility pole along Beacon Road near Three Degree Road in Penn Township, shearing off the pole, then leaving the scene. The car will have major front-end damage. Anyone with information should call police at 724-284-8100.Aug. 8 — Someone broke into the garage at Reges Auto Wrecking in Center Township and stole about $6,500 worth of tools and vehicle parts between Aug. 5 and Aug. 8.
