Wednesday — Three 15-year-old boys are accused of breaking into several vehicles over the weekend and stealing assorted items.The youths targeted vehicles on West Brady and Federal streets and Negley Avenue. Among the stolen property were women's jewelry and a set of binoculars. Owners of any of the stolen items are asked to contact police at 724-287-7743.The boys are charged in juvenile court with theft from a vehicle, conspiracy and receiving stolen property.Police, meanwhile, noted that two of the same youths were also caught going through storage units in the basement of an apartment building in the 300 block of West Jefferson Street. Those boys face additional charges of defiant trespass.Wednesday — Police charged Caleb D. Rugg, 21, of Penn Township with stealing a pair of diamond earrings and a ring from a woman's apartment on Greenview Drive sometime Saturday or Sunday. Rugg later allegedly sold the stolen jewelry at a pawn shop in Butler Township.Rugg is charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft by deception.12:22 p.m. Tuesday — Timothy A. Houtz, 27, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly slashed his wrists and then ran away from police who tried to help him.Police initially were called to Houtz's apartment on West Cunningham Street to check on his well being, according to court documents. The suspect collapsed while running west on Cunningham Street near Rotary Park.When police reached him he became “irate” and “combative” with officers, documents said. A police affidavit noted that it appeared he was “in a highly drug influenced state.” Houtz refused medical treatment.He is charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

9:53 a.m. Tuesday — A vehicle driven by Patricia Zickefoose, 69, of Harrisville crashed on rain-slickened George Junior Road. Police said Zickefoose was cited for driving too fast for conditions.Tuesday — A Coby Kyros notebook was stolen from a vehicle in the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue. The theft happened between 10 p.m. Monday and 7:40 p.m. Tuesday.

2:41 a.m. Tuesday — Lucas Baer, 28, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs on Route 28 in Fawn Township.12:30 p.m. Sunday — Valerie J. Edwards, 17, of Freeport was hurt when the car she was driving crashed on Freeport Road about three-tenths of a mile north of Iron Bridge Road in South Buffalo Township.The wreck happened after Edward's car hit a mailbox with its right-side mirror and then spun out, hitting another mailbox and tree. Police said the car's wheels struck a flower planter and traveled across a yard and driveway before becoming airborne.The car landed on the ground and flipped side to side and end to end. The vehicle ended in a ditch.Edwards, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to UPMC-St. Margaret in Pittsburgh with moderate injuries. Police said she was cited for a lane violation.South Buffalo volunteer firefighters and Freeport EMS assisted police at the scene.
