5:29 p.m. Thursday — Zachery L. Norris, 28, of Gibsonia was arrested on a bench warrant after he turned himself in at the police station. The warrant was issued Friday when he failed to appear for a hearing on a probation violation stemming from a 2007 felony theft case, Butler County Court records showed.Butler Twp PoliceTuesday — Police charged Joseph Orkwis, 30, of Butler with felony shoplifting stemming from the alleged Aug. 1 theft of $283 in merchandise from the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons.A repeat offender, Orkwis has more than a half dozen prior convictions for shoplifting in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties.He has two additional shoplifting cases pending in Butler County Court.Normally a summary or misdemeanor offense, retail theft is upgraded to a third-degree felony regardless of the stolen property's value, under state law, when a defendant has at least two prior arrests for the same crime.In addition to felony retail theft, police charged Orkwis with receiving stolen property.
2:01 a.m. Tuesday — A 19-year-old Butler woman, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after her car crashed and rolled over on its side in the 200 block of Mahood Road in Center Township.Monday — Police charged Ashton E. Dolan, 19, of Center Township with drunken driving stemming from an arrest about 4:15 a.m. July 4 at Henricks and Manor Hill roads in Center Township. In addition to driving under the influence, Dolan is charged with underage drinking.
3:29 a.m. Monday — A pickup truck driven by Charles A. Adams, 33, of Erie struck a tree along Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. Police said Adams was cited for careless driving.Monday — An unknown thief stole a Savage 20-gauge over/under shotgun from a vehicle parked at a home on West Glenora Drive in Pine Township. The shotgun, valued at $300, was taken between July 30 and Monday.
