10:40 p.m. Thursday — Laron R. Gilmore, 33, of Pittsburgh, a convicted felon, was arrested after he was found with a stolen gun and suspected marijuana on Hansen Avenue, police said.Gilmore was placed in the Butler County Prison to await arraignment on charges of felons not permitted to possess firearms, carrying a gun without a permit, receiving stolen property and possession of a small amount marijuana.
Tuesday — Police filed felony and misdemeanor theft-related charges against Bobbie Jo Hernandes, 37, of Slippery Rock stemming from her use of a man's stolen bank debit card at several stores earlier this month.The card holder, who works at Slippery Rock University, reported to police that his wallet was taken from his vehicle, which was broken into July 8 while parked at SRU's Equestrian Center.The next day, the man's bank informed him the card had been used at two different convenience stores and a discount store, all in Slippery Rock. The purchases totaled $392.The thief later was thwarted in attempts to use the card two more times at Walmart and McDonald's, both in Butler Township.Police on July 19 arrested Hernandes for the card-accessed thefts.During an interview with police, according to court documents, she claimed she found the victim's wallet near a Catholic church. She said she decided to use the debit card that was in the wallet.Hernandes is charged with one felony count and four misdemeanor counts of access device fraud.
Wednesday — Police filed drunken driving charges against Michael W. Seekford, 43, of Butler stemming from a 5:08 a.m. July 1 traffic stop on Route 68 in Sligo. In addition to driving under the influence, Seekford is charged with careless driving, failing to keep right and disregarding traffic lanes.9:15 p.m. Sunday — David F. Brown, 40, of Wexford suffered minor injuries when the pickup truck he was driving struck a road sign and utility pole along Route 208 in Elk Township. Brown told police he lost control of the pickup when he swerved to avoid a deer in the road. Police said they cited him for a lane violation.
5:30 p.m. Wednesday — James Munsie, 63, of Karns City was arrested on a warrant out of Clarion County following a traffic stop on Route 268 in Sugarcreek Township. Police said Munsie also faces charges of being a habitual offender for driving under the influence-DUI related and other violations, stemming from the traffic stop.2:05 p.m. Wednesday — An unknown suspect pumped $129.59 worth of diesel fuel into his truck and drove away without paying for the gas at the Jiffy Mart in Worthington. The thief is described as a white male driving a black, newer model, full-sized diesel truck.Wednesday — Several locked storage units were broken into at a storage facility on Route 68 in Bradys Bend Township. The break-ins happened between July 18 and Wednesday. Police said their investigation continues and a list of stolen items and victims was incomplete.
Thursday — An unknown thief between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. passed a counterfeit $20 bill at the McDonald's in Springfield Township.
