Butler Twp PoliceMonday — Police charged Robert E. Lucas Jr., 62, of Valencia with drunken driving stemming from a 2:39 a.m. Wednesday traffic stop on Hansen Avenue. In addition to driving under the influence, police cited Lucas for careless driving and disobeying traffic control devices.
State Police, ButlerJune 30 — Five fishing poles with reels were stolen from a boat in the driveway of a home on Greendale Lane in Forward Township. The fishing equipment, valued at $940, was taken between June 28 and 30.June 30 — An unknown thief stole a Pittsburgh woman’s purse from a car on Hughes Road in Venango Township. The theft happened between 8 and 11: 59 p.m.
State Police, Kittanning2:40 p.m. Monday — An elderly woman was seriously injured when a postal truck accidentally backed up into her near her mailbox on Meadow Street in Manor Township, Armstrong County.The truck’s rear bumper hit 87-year-old Irene Yates, knocking her to the ground. A medical helicopter flew her to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh where she was admitted in critical condition. Her condition was not known this morning.Police said the truck driver, Kenneth J. Fisher, 60, of Dayton, had just delivered mail to a set of mailboxes on the east side of Meadow Street. He began to pull forward northbound when he realized he forgot to place one piece of mail in one of the mailboxes.When Fisher backed up, the truck hit Yates. Police said the investigation continues and no charges were immediately filed.
