Thomas W. 'Wes' Cyphert
Thomas W. “Wes” Cyphert, 70, of Buffalo Township went home to be with his Lord on Thursday in Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He died as he had lived, quietly and with dignity, surrounded by his family.
Wes was born Nov. 12, 1941, in Saltsburg, the son of the late Allan H. and Ruth P. (Hamler) Cyphert.
He graduated from Saltsburg High School in 1959, and was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War where he served with the First Army Division.
Upon his return from Vietnam, he served a four- year apprenticeship with Oberg Manufacturing Co. and earned his journeyman's papers as a surface grinder. Wes owned and operated Center Line Tool, Inc. from 1984 until his retirement in 2002, then remained as a consultant to the business until his death.
He was a member of the Cabot United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee, was a member of the Adults For Christ Sunday school class, Men of Integrity, and the Discipleship Bible Studies. He was an active member of the former Tres Dias of Pittsburgh. Wes' greatest joy was his relationship with the Lord, and with his sons, daughters-in-law and his grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Pop.”
In addition to his parents, Wes was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Wilmer R. and Betty Cyphert; and his sister-in-law, Janie Simon Cyphert.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol (Coffman) Cyphert of Buffalo Township; his sons, Sean T. (Jodi Kilgore) Cyphert of Slate Lick, Craig A. (Diane Sarno) Cyphert of Buffalo Township and Todd M. (Loretta Griffith) Cyphert of Buffalo Township; his grandchildren, Clayton Allen, Dean Michael, Noah Thomas, Nicholas Wesley, Victoria Paige and Haleigh Donne.
