The Rettigs in 1947

Alvin and Bertha Rettig of Cabot will celebrate 65 years of marriage.

The former Bertha Herold married Rettig on June 6, 1947, at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler.

They have four children, Marge Meindl of Raleigh, N.C.; Robert Rettig of Ijamsville, Md.; and Bonnie Isovitsh and Roger Rettig, both of Butler.

They also have 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Rettig retired from Armco Steel in 1983.

Mrs. Rettig is a homemaker.

The Rettigs are active members of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. They are past volunteers for the Marriage Encounter Program and Pre Cana marriage classes.They also began a Parkinson's Disease support group.
