Michael Bowser of Fairview presented “Analyzing Nuisance Properties using GIS in Indiana Borough.”

Devin Convery of Butler presented “Comparison of Pressure Ulcer Risk Assessments: Determining Which Scale is Most Accurate.”

Jacob Hickey of Butler presented “Redbox's Strategy in Movie Rental Industries.”

Emily Poeppel of Saxonburg presented “Magnetic Susceptibility Survey at the Mary Rinn Site” and “Health Benefits of Regular Yoga Practice at IUP.”

Joshua Shuster of Butler presented “Music Lyrics, Drug References and Crime.”

Group announces scholarship winnersThe Butler Area Networking Group announced the recipients of its second annual Youth Investment Business Scholarship Award.The scholarship is awarded to students from Butler and South Butler School Districts in the amounts of $500 each.

Clairissa Boring of Butler High School to attend Butler County Community College for business administration.

Jacob Como of Butler High School to attend Point Park University for marketing.

Stephanie Gross of Knoch High School to attend James Madison for international business and political science.

Scott Anderson of Knoch High School to attend Clarion University for accounting.———

Kelsey Minehart of Butler has been accepted to Edinboro University.Kelsey is the daughter of Christine and Gary Minehart of Butler and is a senior at Butler High School.She is a member of the orchestra and Sequinettes.———

Alana Curtis of Boyers received one of 28 Junior Scholarships awarded by The American Kennel Club.Applicants were evaluated on academic history and involvement in the sport of purebred dogs with special consideration for those who were active in AKC clubs and events.———The artwork of

Rachel Barnes of Butler was included in the recent Juried Student Art Show in Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania's Haas Art Gallery.The juror was Garrett Hansen, a photography instructor.———

Brenda Haines of Mars and

Shannon Kushnereit of Evans City were recognized for Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges at Youngstown State University's 2012 Student Awards Banquet.———

Tess Bielo of Mars, a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority at Indiana (Pa.) University, helped to raise more than $3,000 for Autism Speaks.Bielo, the daughter of Fritz and Susan Bielo, is a 2008 graduate of Mars High School.The sorority raised the funds through its Quarter Mile project, which involves collecting donations of quarters and laying them side-by-side along the street in an attempt to create a quarter mile of quarters.———

Samantha Weber of Freeport placed third at the 2012 Northwest PA Elevator Pitch Competition held April 28 at the eCenter@LindenPointe in Hermitage.Contestants gave a three-minute business elevator pitch and were evaluated by a panel of real-world investors.Weber was awarded $500 for her third place finish. Her team pitched Profile Passer, an iPhone app that turns a virtual relationship between high school athletes and college coaches into a personal, one-on-one recruiting connection at college showcase tournaments.Weber is a sophomore Grove City College English major.
