The 16th annual Outdoor Extravaganza, sponsored by the Butler Outdoor Club, is planned for Memorial Day weekend. Base camp is Breakneck Campground near McConnells Mill and Moraine state parks. Activities will include trail, road and mountain biking, hikes of various levels, canoe and kayak trips on lakes and streams, a float raft trip, horseback riding, sailing, nature walks, rock climbing and rappelling. Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, hosts a work day to help manage invasive plants from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. <B>Seneca Rocks Audubon Society</B> along with Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts and the Foxburg Inn have a registration deadline of Saturday for the 2012 Foxburg Birdfest on May 5 and 6 in Foxburg. On May 5, there will be an 8 a.m. birding tour and lunch at RiverStone Estate for $20, a 5 p.m. buffet dinner at the Allegheny Grille followed by educational presentations at a cost of about $26.40, and an 8 p.m. Owl Prowl at RiverStone for $5. On May 6, there will be a birding tour at Mount Zion/Piney Tract Important Bird Area near Sligo. This event is free. The one-day float will include activities and presentations focusing on the geology, ecology and history of this section of the river. Participants will start at the Yough River Park in Connellsville and travel 14 miles to Hazelbaker's Bottom Yough Outfitters in Layton.
