Hook 90th birthday
Bernice Hook of Concordia Haven II celebrated her 90th birthday with a family gathering and open house.
The former Bernice Wagner was born March 28, 1922, in Marwood. She married the late Allen Hook on Dec. 3, 1942, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church at Hannahstown.
She has four children, Margie Cuellar of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Thomas Hook of Cabot, Ronald Hook of Madison, Conn., and Kathy Shell of Roanoke, Va.
She also has seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
She is a life member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, where she sings in the choir and taught Sunday school. She is also involved in altar guild, church dinners and the school.
She is a 62-year member of Saxonburg American Legion where she is one of the early morning pie bakers.
She has taken care of the American Legion essays for many years and is an Avon Cosmetic representative.
She is known for her happy smile, love of growing flowers to give to others and sending cards to shut-ins.
