CHERRY TWP — Three teams from Moniteau High School's FFA program competed in the Demonstration Team Competition at the state farm show in Harrisburg.

The teams had to perform a 15 to 20 minute demonstrative speech that emphasized their ability to demonstrate and speak simultaneously.

The team of

Dustin Danner, Forest Scheerbaum, Mike Manuel, Richard Boscia and alternate

Tyler Scott won second place with their demonstration of the building of benches that convert into tables.The team of

Seth Smith, Tiffany Zanella, Nate Davis, Kalani Zanella and

Josh Bombara won third place with their construction of bluebird houses to help maintain the bluebird habitats.The team of

Robert Brehm, Randy Brown, Ryan Odrechowski and

Renee Dannels won 10th place with their creation of a cheeseburger slider and lemon potatoes meal.Additionally at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show,

Mike Finklea was awarded the Keystone degree during the FFA Midwinter Convention, which is the highest degree in the FFA at the state level.This degree is awarded to hardworking students who carry their Agricultural/FFA projects beyond the classroom or school level.Mike's livestock projects have secured a variety of awards and championships at the local, state and national levels.In 2011, Mike was awarded the all-American Junior Sheep Show Top Gun Award.This award is given to the highest points winner at the National Junior Show. The points are tabulated both by animal placing as well as showmanship and a variety of application aspects: management, marketing and promotions.
