Film looks at return of animals to wild

Wildlife rescue efforts in Kenya and Borneo are the subject of the new film at the Rangos Omnimax Theater at the Carnegie Science Center.

PITTSBURGH — “Born to Be Wild,” the latest film to open on the big screen at the Carnegie Science Center’s Rangos Omnimax Theater, follows orphaned animals from birth to their rebirth into the wild.

Narrated by Morgan Freeman, this family friendly documentary takes moviegoers to Kenya and Borneo. It looks at orphaned orangutans and elephants and the people who rescue and raise them.

The story follows primatologist Biruté Mary Galdikas, who rescues orphaned orangutans in the rainforests of Borneo, and elephant authority Daphne Sheldrick, who cares for orphaned elephants in Kenya. Both women nurture, rehabilitate and return these animals to the wild.

The film is rated G and has a run time of 40 minutes.

Tickets for nonmembers are $8 and $6 for children. Cost for members is $7 for adults and $5 for children. For show times, call 412-237-3400 or visit www.CarnegieScienceCenter.org.
