Butler PoliceFriday — Police are warning city residents to be wary of a pair of men claiming to be employees of West Penn Power who have scammed residents on East Penn, Third and Hickory streets. In each case, one man distracted the resident by claiming a meter issue or overpayment on an account while the other ransacked the home for valuables.One of the men is a thin white man with a thin, dark mustache, and the other is a stocky white man about six feet tall. At least one of the men was wearing a yellow or orange ID tag around his neck. They are believed to be driving a full-sized white van.Residents are reminded that proper West Penn Power employees wear uniforms with company markings and have company-issued ID tags. Anyone with information on the suspects should call police at 724-287-7743.9:36 a.m. Friday — A SUV driven by Dylan J. Ahrens, 17, of Butler and a SUV driven by Richard S. Black Jr., 17, of Butler collided at the intersection of West Cunningham and Pillow streets. Black suffered a minor injury.

Butler Township Police5:14 p.m. Jan. 15 — Philip A. Campbell, 31, of Butler was charged with retail theft and attempted theft by deception after he allegedly tried to use a bad check at the Sheetz store on New Castle Road. When employees refused to accept the check, Campbell allegedly grabbed $123 worth of merchandise and fled the store.Campbell also was charged with theft and receiving stolen property relating to a Nov. 17 incident in which he allegedly stole about $3,000 worth of items from a relative’s home on Grandview Boulevard. Anyone with information on Campbell’s whereabouts should call police at 724-285-9600.

Grove City PoliceMonday — An Apple iPod Touch was stolen from a house on the 400 block of North Center Street. A suspect has been identified, according to borough police.State Police, Kittanning

7:21 a.m. Wednesday — A pickup truck driven by Gary M. Spangler, 45, of Sarver, a car driven by Michael J. Donnelly, 46, of Leechburg, a car driven by Danielle L. Rectenwald, 22, of Greensburg and a car driven by Peter Dorovenis, 68, of Toronto, Ontario, collided on Route 28 near Exit 8 in Aspinwall, Allegheny County. Dorovenis’ passenger, William Bagley, 49, of New Kensington suffered a minor injury. Spangler was cited for driving at unsafe speed.Jan. 8 — Sennie Northime, 26, of Parker was charged with burglary and theft after she allegedly stole items belonging to her father, a Chicora resident.Jan. 5 — A .22-caliber pistol was reported stolen from a home on Wee Share Drive in North Buffalo Township. The gun was taken between July 2010 and Jan. 5.
