Butler Police3:06 p.m. Friday — Shari Hunt, 28, of Portersville was hurt when the car she was driving slammed into a utility pole along Main Street just south of Polk Street. The pole broke in two, causing an underground gas line to rupture.Hunt, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Utility crews later repaired the pole and gas line.
Butler Twp. PoliceWednesday — Police charged a former Sheetz employee with taking money from the store between Oct. 28 and Dec. 2 when she worked there.Cindy D. Geibel, 53, of West Sunbury allegedly used a false refund scheme to make off with the money.Store surveillance video showed Geibel ringing up on the cash register cartons and packs of cigarettes for refunds. She then took the money from the register and kept it.She is charged with theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception, both first-degree misdemeanors.
State Police, ButlerWednesday — Police filed charges against Tyler B. Kern, 18, of Butler in connection with a shoplifting incident at the Boscov’s store in the Clearview Mall.Kern took several items of clothing and went into a changing room in the store. He allegedly put on the clothes and tried to leave the store into the mall.A store security officer approached him, and he fled the mall. He is charged with retail theft and harassment.Wednesday — A 16-foot stainless steel sink was stolen from Hindman Industries on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township. The sink, which weighs about 700 pounds, was taken between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 2 p.m. Wednesday.6:08 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Kevin L. Mulford, 42, of Slippery Rock struck a utility pole at Barron Road and Route 108 in Worth Township. Mulford was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.11:27 a.m. Tuesday — Kelly L. Zelenski, 45, of Karns City lost control of her car and ended up in a creek along Campbell Hollow Road in Concord Township.State Police, Mercer10:58 a.m. Tuesday — James K. Gallagher, 70, of Prospect was hurt when the car he was driving collided with another car on Route 19 near Route 208 in Springfield Township. Gallagher, who was taken to the Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries, faces a ticket for filing to yield to another vehicle.
