Charles E. Ace

Charles E. Ace of Bruin died at 9:09 p.m. Sunday at his home surrounded by his loving family after a lingering illness.

He retired from Penreco, Karns City, where he worked at the Hill Plant, after 22 years of service.

A private in the U.S. Army, he served our country from Nov. 18, 1952, during the Korean War, until he was honorably discharged June 7, 1957.

He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Chicora.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, repairing his cars and spending time with his family.

Born in Fairview, July 10, 1931, he was the son of the late Hayes Richard Ace and Katherine L. Lowers Ace.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Belle Umstead Ace, who he married May 23, 1956; daughters, Florence V. and James Walker of Chicora, Katherine and Dennis Steighner of Petrolia and Vicky and Dale Dunkle of Bruin; sons, Kenneth and Darlene Ace of Chicora, Ernest and Lisa Ace of Parker, Timothy and Cathy Ace of Argentine and Dennis and Faye Ace of Chicora; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard Ace of Chicora; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Blake Ney of Petrolia, Donna and Daniel Surrena of Chicora, Janet Slater of Chicora and Alice and Chuck Hetrick of Chicora; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by eight sisters and five brothers.

<B>ACE </B>— Visitation for Charles E. Ace, who died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 N. Main and East Slippery Rock streets, Chicora, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Road, Chicora, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph J. Boomhower, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Lutheran Cemetery with full military honors provided by members from the Dexter Leroy Donaldson Post 7876 of the Chicora VFW, the Dierkin Ritzert Post 642 of the Chicora American Legion and the 99th Regional Readiness Command of Coraopolis.For information, directions and to extend condolences to the family, go to www.steighnerfuneralhome.com.
