Sept. 28 — Police filed drunken driving and other charges against an Allegheny County man stemming from an Aug. 28 crash at Routes 8 and 173 in Brady Township.The suspect, Joseph M. Jerome, 24, of Glenshaw, was “highly intoxicated” about 4:26 a.m. when he ran a stop sign at the intersection, went off the road and struck a wooden fence owned by Slippery Rock University.Jerome did not stop after the crash and instead drove through a grass field and back onto the road. The car traveled south on Route 8 for about 15 miles until Jerome, apparently “in fear he would crash a second time,” the report said, pulled over in Butler Township.Jerome is charged with driving under the influence, hit-and-run, disregarding traffic lanes, a stop sign violation, careless driving and failure to stop and render aid after an accident.

7:05 a.m. Tuesday — The engine compartment of a pickup truck driven by Ronald E. Deal, 56, of East Butler caught fire on Interstate 80 just west of Porter Road in Clintonville. Deal was able to get out of the pickup unharmed.

12:30 a.m. Tuesday—Travis L. Berlin, 41, of Knox was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township.
