Patricia J. Miller Stutz Miller, of 1562 Mile Hill Road, Sunbury, Pa., daughter of the late Anthony Aloysius Miller (T.A.) and Anna Mary (Young) Miller, died peacefully with her children by her side at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, on Aug. 24, 2011.

Patricia was born on May 21, 1933, in Butler County and attended Butler High School and graduated from American School.

She was married to the late Guy P. Stutz Jr. in 1950, and they had five children. He predeceased her on Sept. 19, 1971.

She was the beloved mother and mother-in-law to Bonita and John Morgan of Sunbury, Mona and William Hickey of Middleburg, Debra and Raymond Bonanno of Enfield, Conn., Guy P. and Cathy Stutz of Carlisle, Mass., and Jacqueline Young of Sunbury.

In 1980, Patricia married the late John K. Miller of Sunbury, who predeceased her on Feb. 20, 2001.

Surviving are three stepdaughters and their families, Paul and Vicki Renn of Sunbury, James and Terri Smith of Sunbury and Lori Williams of Ft. Myers, Fla. The family also includes five step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandsons.

Patricia also is survived by two sisters, Virginia and her husband, Edward, Johnson, of Butler and Irene Dickey of Youngstown, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by two half-sisters, Irene Miller and Edith McConnell; three half-brothers, Charles Miller, Edwin Klink and Joseph Klink; and an infant granddaughter, Natasha Young.

Mrs. Miller attended St. Monica’s Church in Sunbury. She volunteered on a regular basis, assisting recording weekly offerings.

She was a life member of the Goodwill Hose Company, the Sunbury VFW Auxiliary 1532 and the Sunbury Ladies Auxiliary of Moose. She was the never ending treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary 1532.

Mrs. Miller was a former employee of Montgomery Ward’s and Rea and Derrick Office. She was currently employed by the Upper Augusta Township voting polls.

Patricia was an avid reader, and never left home without a book. She loved her Globe crossword puzzles, and she enjoyed her friends, especially visiting homebound friends.

She was a flag enthusiast dedicated to ensuring that proper protocol for displaying the American flag was honored. She also was an ardent supporter of American veterans and active military members.

Patricia loved to travel. She visited many of the 50 states, including visits to Hawaii. Her most frequent trips were to Butler to visit her best friend and sister, Ginny, and her sister, Irene.

In recent years, she enjoyed cross-country bus trips to the Wisconsin Dells and to the Rockies. On many of her trips, Patricia was accompanied by her sister, Ginny, and brother-in-law Ed Johnson. She also looked forward to family vacations every year in Anna Maria, Fla.

Most of all, Patricia loved spending time with her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the anchor in her life. She always looked forward to family gatherings, whether it was a simple card game or a major event, like her granddaughter Rana Bonanno’s wedding to Lee Bailey on July 2. She would always say “that’s my kids, there’s never a dull moment when (those) kids are around.”

Mrs. Miller was the beloved grandmother of seven grandchildren, Ryan and Lisa Stutz, Ian Hickey, Andrea Morgan, Michael Morgan, Colbie (Young) and Scott Mertz, Isaac Young, and Rana (Bonanno) and Lee Bailey. She also was the great-grandmother of five, Jaxon, Bodin and Cooper Stutz, and Bryce Morgan and Landon Long. She was anticipating the birth of her sixth grandson, Malakia Mertz, in September.

In addition to those members of her family, Mrs. Miller is survived by loving nieces and nephews and many friends in Sunbury.

MILLER — There will be no viewing for Patricia J. Miller, who died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011.
