William F. Kirmeyer Sr.

William F. Kirmeyer Sr., 86, of Evans City passed away Friday while under the care of UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born April 22, 1925, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Ludwig and Marie (Turba) Kirmeyer.

William proudly served his country during World War II as a tanker in the U.S. Army.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter, who by trade was a hairdresser and was warmly referred to as “hairbender” by all of his friends. In addition, he worked for Butler County in the bridge department and in voter registration.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Johanna (Ketterer) Kirmeyer, who he married April 23, 1949; a daughter, Marylou Kerestury and her husband, Fred, of Gibsonia; a son, William F. Kirmeyer Jr. and his wife, Siggie, of Evans City; five loving grandchildren, Jacquelyn Michalik, Frederick and Meghan Kerestury and Jena and Payge Kirmeyer; and five precious great-grandchildren, Shannon, Nicole, Michael, Tyler and Alex.

William was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Kirmeyer; his daughter, Carol Schilling; and his granddaughter, Christina Schilling.

<B>KIRMEYER</B> — The family of William F. Kirmeyer Sr., who died Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 116 E. Main Street, Evans City. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church, Evans City, with Father Gerald Lutz as celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in William's honor to the Disabled American Veterans, Butler Post 64, P.O.
