The County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania last week named Butler County solicitor Julie Graham solicitor of the year for 2011.

Among the criteria CCAP used to make a selection were the contributions she made toward the advancement of county government by providing leadership and outstanding service, advocacy and legal proficiency.

To be eligible for the award, a county solicitor must also be an active participant in association affairs.

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — A book manufacturing plant in northeastern Pennsylvania has told its employees it is closing.Employees heading out of the RR Donnelley plant outside Bloomsburg said they learned Thursday that they have only 60 days left of employment.The Chicago-based company will close the plant by the end of October. About 400 people will lose their jobs.Officials from the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce said RR Donnelley has struggled since the creation of e-books and that the closure will hurt the rest of the area’s economy.Books have been manufactured at the plant for more than 30 years.Calls to the company were not returned.
