JACKSON TWP — The township supervisors Thursday night approved a liquor license transfer from a business in Butler Township to the restaurant in the Creekside Commons plaza off Route 19.

Burgh’ers Restaurant features organic and locally grown foods prepared in American style.

It now will be able to serve alcohol pending approval from the state’s Liquor Control Board.

The license is being transferred from 100 Alameda Plaza in Butler Township.

Burgh’ers has room for 40 patrons inside and 10 outside. It employs six part-time employees.

Owner Fiore Moletz spent 10 years as a chef in the food industry before opening Burgh’ers in August 2010.

Its specialty is hamburgers, which are named for neighborhoods in Pittsburgh.

It’s beef comes from organic farmers and comes from Armstrong Farms in Saxonburg.

In other action, the supervisors voted to change its dog officer to save money.

The township hired Dennis Sybert beginning Oct. 1 to take over for Triangle Pet Control of McKees Rocks as Jackson’s official dog officer.

Sybert is a dog officer in several municipalities in Butler County including Zelienople, Harmony and Butler.

He will be paid $40 per incident as compared to Triangle Pet, which the township pays $150 per month whether it answered any dog calls or not.

Supervisors Chairman Ron Lutz said the township typically has four to six dog calls per year so the township is looking to pay $200 to $300 annually for the new dog officer compared to $1,800 annually now.
