10:30 p.m. Saturday — Edward W. Dixon, 20, faces drug charges following an incident at his home on Harper Avenue. Dixon is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.Saturday — Police are investigating several burglaries and vehicle break-ins in the Meridian area. Residents are advised to be alert and to report suspicious activity.Police also are asking homeowners to check their yards for any missing property or property that is not theirs. Additionally, residents are reminded to lock the doors of their homes and vehicles.1:09 p.m. Friday — A 15-year-old Butler boy was injured when the bicycle he was riding swerved into the side of a car on Old Plank Road near Dutchtown Road. The boy, who police did not identify, was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Lisa McCarren was driving the car.Friday — A utility all-terrain vehicle was stolen from a construction site at Sawmill Run Park during the night. The vehicle is red and has “United Rentals” printed on the side of the doors. Those with information about the theft are asked to call police at 724-285-9600.
8:20 a.m. Monday—Betty J. Foster, 51, of Evans City was hurt when a car crossed the center line and struck the car she was driving on Route 68 near Buss Lane in Connoquenessing Township. Foster, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury. David J. Mehelich, 21, of Butler, the other driver, was cited for careless driving.1 a.m. Monday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Kayla J. Church, 19, of Saxonburg struck a utility pole along Dinnerbell Road near Whitaker Road in Jefferson Township. Police said Church was cited for a lane violation.Monday — A smartphone was reported stolen from the Coopers Lake campground on Currie Road in Worth Township. The owner, of Westmoreland County, said the theft happened between noon and 2 p.m.1:22 p.m. Sunday — Joshua A. Mann, 31, of Prospect was seriously hurt when the motorcycle he was driving struck a pickup truck on Unionville Road just east of Muldoon Road in Franklin Township. Mann, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his cycle.A medical helicopter flew Mann to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with injuries police described as major. Larry L. Maser, 59, of Butler was driving the pickup.Wednesday — An unknown burglar stole several unspecified items worth $1,170 from a trailer at the Moraine Campgrounds on Staff Road in Brady Township. The burglary happened between May 1 and Wednesday.12:21 a.m. July 20 — Michael L. Lazaro, 22, of Sarver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Sarver and Ekastown roads in Buffalo Township.
8 a.m. Monday — Two people were hurt when a sport utility vehicle driven by Melissa Minick, 42, of Harrisville and a sport utility truck driven by Grant E. Hartzell, 64, of Grove City collided on Route 58 near Industrial Drive in Pine Township.Minick, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with moderate injuries. Shirley Hartzell, 67, of Grove City, a passenger in the truck who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury. Police said Minick was cited for making an improper left turn.
