PITTSBURGH — Bottom Dollar Food, a North Carolina-based discount grocery chain, plans to put a store in Butler Township and also plans to enter the Pittsburgh and Youngstown, Ohio, markets with 13 other stores.

The company says it hopes to open most of the stores early next year with three near Youngstown and the others in the Pittsburgh suburbs.

Other confirmed Pittsburgh-area locations are Ambridge, Baldwin, Bridgeville, Carnegie, Castle Shannon, McKeesport and Penn Hills.

The chain specializes in smaller so-called limited assortment stores such as Aldi and Save-A-Lot.

The chain based in Salisbury, N.C., entered the Philadelphia market last year. It has nearly 50 stores in North Carolina, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

The Butler Township store will be in the former Michaels craft store in the Bon Aire Shopping Plaza on Route 8.
