The Matthews in 1961

Gaylord and Betty Matthews of Harrisville celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family dinner at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mike and Brandy Ripley, in Slippery Rock.

Matthews married the former Betty Wike on June 24, 1961, at Wesley Methodist Church in Wesley, Pa.

They have four children, Brian Matthews, Bradley Matthews of Kennerdell, Brandy Gaye Ripley of Slippery Rock and Brett Matthews of Kennerdell.

They also have seven grandchildren.

Matthews is the retired owner of G.L. Matthews Trucking. He enjoys farming and camping with his grandchildren.Mrs. Matthews is the retired secretary of G.L. Matthews Trucking. She also enjoys camping with her grandchildren.Mr. and Mrs. Matthews belong to Pleasantview Methodist Church.
