John Emil Fleske
John Emil Fleske, 92, of Butler passed away at 2:35 p.m. Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born Oct. 28, 1918, in Butler, he was the son of the late Otto Wilhelm Fleske and Louisa Margaret Schneck Fleske.
Mr. Fleske was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II.
He retired from Matlack Trucking, where he was a terminal manager.
He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
Mr. Fleske is survived by one son, William Fleske and his wife, Jill, of Slippery Rock; four daughters, Linda Smartz of Pittsburgh, Jonee Smith and her husband, Ralph, of New Martinsville, W.Va., Judy Valdivia of Butler and Donna Walter and her husband, Charles, of Butler; 15 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. Also a number of nieces and nephews survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorthea (Divers) Fleske, who passed away Sept. 29, 1996; and one son, Raymond Fleske.
<B>FLESKE </B>— Friends of John Emil Fleske, who died Thursday, May 19, 2011, will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Patricia Nelson of the First United Methodist Church officiating.
