MEADVILLE — Butler Country Club's Rob McClellan fired a six-under-par 66 (33-33) to capture first place at Monday's 2011 Meadville Classic golf event.

McClellan was one stroke better than New Castle Country Club's Ned Weaver.

John Aubrey, of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred Golf Course, placed sixth overall and third in the senior standings with a score of 70 (37-33).

LATROBE —Ryan Koenig of Cranberry Township carded a 73 to capture the boys 14 division at the King's Restaurants Junior Golf Tournament Monday at Glengarry Golf Links.Koenig won by two strokes over Sasha Lobel.

GREENVILLE — Freeport High School graduate Cody McClelland will attend Thiel College, where he will play football and compete on the Tomcats' track and field team.McClellan was a three-year varsity letterwinner for the Yellowjackets' football team, which qualified for the WPIAL playoffs all three seasons.As a senior, McClelland, who will major in criminal justice studies, led the Allegheny Conference in sacks (10.5) and second in total tackles (105).

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University football players Akeem Satterfield and Zach Sheridan were named Monday to the second-team Division II Preseason All-Americans by Consensus Draft Services.The preseason honor was the second by Satterfield, the No. 2 scorer (20 touchdowns) and No. 6 rusher (1,352 yards) in the nation. The Sporting News had also named him a preseason All-American earlier this month.Sheridan led SRU in tackles with 102 and became the first Rock player to eclipse 100 tackles since Mike Waszczuk in 1998.

NEW WILMINGTON — Westminster College's men's and women's swimming and diving coach Rob Klamut has announced his 2011 recruiting class, which includes three area swimmers.On the women's side, Jordan McElhaney (Butler) was a four-year letterwinner and four-time WPIAL qualifier for the Tornado while Kristy Daubner (Knoch) was a captain and four-year letterwinner.For the men's team, Marc Williams (Seven Fields, Quigley High) was also a four-year letterwinner and was the school's Wendy's Heisman award winner.<B></B>
