HERMITAGE, Mercer County — F.N.B. Corp., has announced it is buying Parkvale Financial Corp., parent company of Parkvale Savings Bank of Pittsburgh, which has a branch in Cranberry Township.

The transaction is valued at about $22.48 per share, or $130 million in the aggregate.

The deal will bring to F.N.B. Corp. about $1.8 billion in total assets, including $1.5 billion in total deposits, $1 billion in loans and 47 Parkvale branches, mostly in the city of Pittsburgh and surrounding communities.

The transaction will strengthen the deposit market share of F.N.B. Corporation from seventh to third in the Pittsburgh region with $3.3 billion of deposits and 101 full service branches serving commercial and consumer customers in this market. Overall, F.N.B. Corporation will have $11.6 billion in assets, $8.9 billion in total deposits and 282 full service banking offices.

CRANBERRY TWP — Westinghouse Electric Co. has announced it signed a memorandum of understanding with Bulgarian Energy Holding EAD under which the companies will discuss cooperation on a range of nuclear energy projects at the Kozloduy site in Bulgaria.These projects include support of the current nuclear plants in life extension, and instrumentation and control, as well as decommissioning and dismantling of the four non-operational units on site. The scope of the agreement also covers more general considerations of various stages of the nuclear fuel cycle and proposed new building in the region.Bulgaria has an established nuclear program dating back 35 years, and nuclear energy accounts for a third of the nation's electricity generation.

SHARON, Mercer County — Wheatland Tube, a division of JMC Steel Group, is expanding its DOM, Drawn Over Mandrel, Mechanical Tubing product capacity and product capabilities.The planned investment will increase Wheatland Tube's total DOM production capacity at its Church Street facility in Wheatland, Pa. The investment will also enable Wheatland to expand its size range capability in these products, which are used in a variety of applications: agricultural equipment, automotive parts, hydraulic equipment, fluid power applications and machined parts.With this expansion, the company is increasing its production to make 9-inch outside diameter pipe.Wheatland Tube has been the beneficiary of the Marcellus Shale natural gas drilling operations in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, finding its tubing products in demand.
