tax daze

A big cable news show had a representative for the petroleum companies stating that they pay their fair share in taxes. I disagree and am writing to represent the capitalist view that they do not pay the share. The representative went on to say that they, the oil companies make their money from small purchases through mass transactions and that profit is very small on every dollar. This indicates to me that the large majority of dollar is spent through many purchases of a small item which is a gallon of gasoline. We know that gasoline is used by vehicles to traverse the roads and highways. We know that the taxpayer pays to improve and maintain the highway infrastructure. Now compare how the capitalistic nature of oil companies depend on the use of taxpayer paid highways and the amounts of gasoline purchased. For the petroleum corporations to succeed in true capitalism this paved infrastructure would have been built and maintained by them. But the highways are not managed by the petroleum corporations. No doubt because corporate nature owns a history controlling all associated aspects to their business. The past would show us again, the road traveler would be paying frequent tolls and subscribed dues payments to use such infrastructure, much like the mining companies owned and ran entire towns that developed around privately owned mines. So it is legislated to the care of the large number of taxpayers. As the general taxpayers hear of the breaks given to the oil corporations and record breaking quarterly profits it should cross our minds and wonder if we are providing the way for the petrol corps investment and success. Their product enables the use of the highway infrastructure, but I think it falls to our unfair share paid through the DMV, DOT, and numerous tax support systems.
