9:57 p.m. Wednesday — John E. Hopkins, 47, was arrested on charges he assaulted his girlfriend, Patricia Hedrick, 39, of Butler, during a domestic dispute at his Brown Avenue home. Hopkins was placed in Butler County Prison to await arraignment on a charge of simple assault.7:38 a.m. Wednesday — Sport utility vehicles driven by Amy Amadee, 45, of Freeport and Elizabeth Snodgrass, 61, of Slippery Rock collided at West Jefferson and North Washington streets. After the collision, Snodgrass' vehicle hit a crosswalk signal pole.
5:16 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Melissa Kasarda, 20, of Butler rear ended another car on New Castle Road hill as the other driver, Joshua Crawford, 44, of Butler, slowed for traffic backed up from Hansen Avenue. Kasarda was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
2:11 a.m. Tuesday — Nicholas Fisher, 23, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on South Center Street near East Pine Street.
3:15 a.m. Wednesday —Trooper Joseph Sonafelt had to swerve his cruiser to avoid a head-on crash with another vehicle, traveling without its headlights on, that crossed into the officer's lane on Route 422 in Clearfield Township.The unidentified vehicle struck the side of the cruiser's bumper despite the trooper's maneuver. Sonafelt, 46, of Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County, was not hurt. However, his car became disabled.The unknown driver of the other vehicle did not stop and continued west on Route 422.3 a.m. Wednesday — A 31-year-old Boyers woman, suspected of drunken driving, was hurt when her car crashed on Conerty Road near Irwin Road in Donegal Township. The woman, who police did not immediately identify, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries.1:24 a.m. Wednesday — Alan Weston, 22, of Parker was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 268 in Parker, Armstrong County.Wednesday — A Garmin global positioning system device and a Verizon cell phone charger were stolen between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday from an unlocked vehicle at a home on Hines Road in Slippery Rock Township.Police suspect the same thief tried unsuccessfully to break-into another vehicle at the same home. That vehicle's door handle was damaged in the would-be theft.2:59 a.m. April 27 — A car struck several trees along Route 173 after the driver, who police did not identify, swerved to a avoid a deer on the road in Mercer Township.2:53 p.m. April 19 — Richard Stewart, 45, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Route 68 near Summit Avenue in Chicora.2 a.m. April 17 — Carly Rae Rape, 19, of Callery was arrested for DUI at Route 356 and Chapel View Drive in Winfield Township. Police also cited Rape for underage drinking and not using her turn signals.
Tuesday — A red, 1995 Subaru Legacy was reported stolen from a home on Best Road in Toby Township.5:30 p.m. April 26 — A 14-year-old Rimersburg boy is accused of assaulting a 35-year-old woman at a home on Lawsonham Road in Madison Township. The boy, who police did not identify, allegedly hit the woman in the mouth, cutting her lip. The suspect faces a simple assault charge in juvenile court.
Wednesday — Unspecified prescription pills were stolen from a home on Ferraro Road in North Buffalo Township. The theft happened between April 19 and Wednesday.
