2:56 a.m. Tuesday — Steve I. Stanford, 36, was arrested after allegedly punching his girlfriend, 31-year-old Jessica M. Luce, in the face during a domestic dispute at the couple's American Avenue home. Stanford was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.Tuesday — Police reported they charged three 11-year-old Butler boys with assaulting and injuring another 11-year-old Butler boy during a fight about 4:15 p.m. April 14 at West New Castle and Broad streets. The fight happened a short time after the boys were dismissed from school.A police report did not indicate the extent of the alleged victim's injuries. The three suspects, who police did not identify, are charged in juvenile court with simple assault and conspiracy.
8:44 a.m. Tuesday — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at East Main and South Broad streets.The wreck happened when a van driven by John Sizemore, 42, of Conneaut Lake, Crawford County, collided with a sport utility vehicle driven by Michael Marshall, 57, of New Castle. Marshall suffered a minor injury.Feb. 12 — Jewelry and other property worth nearly $2,000 was stolen from a College Avenue apartment. Taken in the theft was an Emerson television, two LG Envy cellular phones, a Sheetz gift card, silver and platinum bracelet, three pairs of gold earrings, cubic zirconia earrings and 10 to 15 gold-plated earrings.A police report noted that the television was subsequently recovered at an undisclosed location in the borough.
Tuesday — Police reported that Ryan Dee, 25, of Parker is suspected of stealing unspecified items from a home on Pine Street in Parker, Armstrong County. The theft happened between October 2010 and April.April 17 — A laptop computer was stolen in a burglary at South Drive home in Center Township. Anyone with information about the break-in is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.11:09 p.m. April 16 — Two men were seriously hurt when cars they were driving collided on South Benbrook Road about one-quarter mile east of Lions Road in Center Township. Medical helicopters flew Mark J. Wilkinson, 31, of Butler and James D. Powers, 57, of Slippery Rock to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.A police report said Wilkinson and Powers suffered major injuries. Both men were wearing seat belts. Police said Wilkinson faces a ticket for a lane violation.
