2 Eagle staffers honored
Two Butler Eagle staff members have been honored in two statewide newspaper contests.
Justin Guido, chief photographer for the Butler Eagle, won first place for feature photograph in the annual Pennsylvania Associated Press Managing Editors contest.
The photograph was of a young child laying on a cow statue.
He won second place in the news photo category in the Keystone Press Awards contest sponsored by the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association.
That was for a picture of Amish hats in a pile after a fatal van crash.
Sports writer Mike Kilroy won a second place award for sports story in the Keystone Press Awards contest.He won for an article about high school softball pitchers.Those awards are for daily newspapers with a circulation in the 15,000 to 30,000 range.They will be presented at the groups' annual meetings in State College, which occur on the same weekend, May 20-21.
