Knoch girls earn lacrosse victory

Mandi Boldy scored five times and added three assists as the Knoch girls lacrosse team thumped Hempfield by a score of 14-5 Friday.

Laura Crist added four goals and an assist and Mindy Norris chipped in with three goals and one helper.

Sierra Kaufman contributed a goal and an assist and Kara Fitzpatrick scored once.

Becky Imhoff made 11 saves in goal.

Boys Tennis

In the WPIAL Section 2-AAA singles title match, Pine-Richland’s Bas Van Lent defeated Butler’s Will Nesbitt 7-5, 6-1.

In the match for third place, Butler’s Zac McCafferty rebounded from a loss in the first set to beat P-R’s JiHo Park 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Van Lent, Nesbitt and McCafferty each advance to the WPIAL singles tournament, which begins Thursday.
