Butler PoliceMonday — Jared L. Campbell, 28, of Butler is accused of stealing 20 garbage bags full of beer cans that were under the porch of a West Penn Street home. The owner planned to redeem the aluminum cans at a local recycling facility.Police caught Campbell at Greco Materials Recycling in Butler, where he showed up with eight of the can-filled bags. A police report said the suspect admitted taking the property. He said the other 12 bags were at his home.The cans’ redemption value is $78.75. Campbell is charged with theft.12:03 a.m. March 27 — Officers were called to Iarrapino’s parking lot on West Cunningham Street for a report of two persons breaking into vehicles. Officers located two males, who ran from the lot. Police caught a 13-year-old male from Butler, and later identified the second person, a 14-year-old male of Butler. Both were charged with theft from a motor vehicle, conspiracy and a curfew violation.

Butler Twp Police2:50 a.m. Tuesday — An Ohio man was arrested after he allegedly tried to break into an automated teller machine at Days Inn on Route 8 South.James Hettick, 22, of Mogadore was arraigned on a felony count of attempted theft. He also is charged with criminal mischief, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and theft of services, and placed in Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.

State Police, ButlerTuesday — Police charged Joann K. Mavilla, 52, of West Sunbury with drugged driving stemming from an 11:10 p.m. March 16 traffic stop on Route 68 at Buhl Hill in Forward Township. Mavilla is charged with driving under the influence, disregarding traffic lanes and not wearing a seat belt.12:20 p.m. Sunday — Shane A. Hinchberger, 23, of Mars was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a 34-year-old woman at a Clay Avenue home in Mars. Hinchberger is charged with simple assault and harassment.

State Police, Mercer4:45 a.m. Monday — A car previously reported stolen was found abandoned and out of gas on Interstate 79 in Springfield Township. Police said three unknown people were seen running from the interstate median about 2 miles south of the car, a 2003 Acura RSX owned by a Strattanville, Clarion County, man.
