Helen Boss, 88, formerly of Highfield in Butler died Monday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Butler, June 21, 1922, a daughter of the late Paul and Catherine Pilipchuk Boss.

Helen retired in 1982. She had been a lathe operator at the Castle Rubber Co. in East Butler for 41 years. She also formerly served as secretary of the Rubber Workers Union Local.

An active member of the SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, she formerly was the treasurer of the church board and was a longtime volunteer pirohi worker and Easter egg maker. She also was a charter member of the U.O.L., the Ukrainian Orthodox League.

Helen proudly served her country in the Woman's Army Corps with the Army Air Force during World War II.

She is survived by a sister, Rose Hnatko of Butler; two nieces, two nephews, three grandnieces, a grandnephew and a great-grandnephew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Peter Boss, and two sisters, Ann Huba and Mary Boss.

<B>BOSS</B> — Friends of Helen Boss, who died Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 21 Evergreen Drive, Lyndora. Her pastor, the Rev. Paisius McGrath, will officiate. Interment will be at Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.Parasta's services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
