Doris and James Thorne

James and Doris Thorne of Concordia in Cabot celebrated 55 years of marriage with family and friends at Serventi's Restaurant in Butler.

Thorne married the former Doris Bodesheim on March 24, 1956, at the First Presbyterian Church in Cumberland, Md., with the Rev. M. Robertson officiating.

They have two children, Suann Thorne Martell of Coupeville, Wash., and Dr. James Dana Thorne of Arlington, Va.

They also have two grandchildren.

Thorne is retired from Grove City College.

Mrs. Thorne is a retired church secretary.They are members of the Nixon United Methodist Church.
