GRADUATES
Tammy R. Steighner of Chicora graduated with high honors from the University of Phoenix with a master’s in nursing, nursing and healthcare education.A 1982 graduate of Karns City High School, she graduated in 1986 from Carlow University with a bachelor’s in nursing and cum laude in 1989 with a diploma in mortuary science/funeral services from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, where she served as class secretary.She has been a licensed professional registered nurse for 25 years and a licensed professional funeral director for 22 years.She works as a licensed funeral director at the Steighner Funeral Home in Chicora.Steighner has worked in various nurse practice settings including acute care, long-term care, outpatient, home healthcare, community and public healthcare and department of corrections and as a nursing instructor.She attended Wicks Educational Associates in 2003 and is certified as a wound, ostomy and continence nurse.She is a member of the Omicron Delta Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Cambridge Who’s Who, The National Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Society, the National League of Nursing and the Western Pennsylvania Affiliate of the Northeast Region WOCN Society, where she serves as an office member of the board, as secretary and on the nominations committee.She is a member of the Butler County Funeral Directors Association, the Pennsylvania Funeral Director Association and the Western Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association.She is the daughter of Thomas and Rose Steighner of Chicora.
