Mildred K. Hamil
Mildred Kathryn Montgomery Hamil, 97, of the Townhouse Apartments, Butler, passed away peacefully at her home on Christmas, her favorite day of the year, with her family at her side.
She was born Sept. 25, 1913, in Higgins Corners, Venango Township, the daughter of William and Margaret Deal Montgomery and the beloved granddaughter of Joseph and Catherine Woolcut Montgomery.
For most of her life, she was a member of the Argentine United Methodist Church, where she was the pianist for many services. After the church closed, she became a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Eau Claire.
She was a gracious and loving woman whose home was constantly filled with friends and family. She loved to cook and bake for her guests as well as extending her hospitality to anyone in need. She loved children and animals and had a deep concern for the hungry, the homeless and the sick.
Surviving are her children, Jerry Hamil (Donna) of St. Petersburg, Myrna Hamil of Butler and Larry Hamil of Butler; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Vera Hamil and Mrs. Helen Montgomery; a brother-in-law, Mr. Lavern Geibel; and a number of nieces and nephews, many of whom considered her a second mother.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis D. Hamil, who she married Aug. 13, 1942; three brothers, Francis Montgomery, Leroy Montgomery and Joseph Montgomery; and one sister, Marie Geibel.
<B>HAMIL</B> — A private funeral service, with burial in the Eau Claire Cemetery, has been held for Mildred Kathryn Montgomery Hamil, who died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010.
