Tuesday — Police filed a bad check charge against Stephen W. Horniacek, 42, of Summit Township in connection with a $2,000 check he allegedly wrote Dec. 8 on an account that did not have sufficient funds. Horniacek passed the check on to Kenneth A. Rose of Butler.Rose later sent the defendant a certified letter seeking payment. Horniacek signed the letter Jan. 13; however, according to a police report, he has not responded to it.5:46 p.m. Thursday — Shaun P. Doerr, 32, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, 26-year-old Margaretta Askey, during a domestic dispute at her North Washington Street apartment. Doerr was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.
4:58 p.m. Jan. 16 — Ryan Banner, 24, of Chicora lost control of his vehicle and ended up against a tree on Delwood Road. Police said Banner let the vehicle there; they spoke to him the following day and later cited him for abandoning a vehicle, careless driving and driving at an unsafe speed.
9:50 p.m. Monday — A pickup truck driven by Jessica Charlton, 26, of Evans City crashed into a utility pole along Route 528 in Connoquenessing Township. Police said Charlton was cited for careless driving and driving with a suspended license.Sunday — Police reported they are investigating a burglary of an unlocked trailer and shed between Dec. 23 and Jan. 1 at 1114 E. Eldorado Road in Parker Township. Among items stolen were several bottles of alcohol from a refrigerator, a bottle of prescription pills used to treat hypertension and congestive heart disease, four $25 gift cards and a yellow pressure washer.The stolen property is valued at $268. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
Monday — Police filed a pair of felony charges against Markis D. Roland, 30, no known address, stemming from an alleged drug deal July 20 on Freeport Road in Butler Township.Roland is accused of selling crack cocaine to an undercover officer for $1,000. He is charged with delivery of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance — both felonies.Additionally, he is charged with misdemeanor drug possession.
Tuesday — Herbert Lee Nunemaker, 67, of Hadley was arrested on a warrant on charges he inappropriately touched a young girl between 2005 and 2007 at a home in Sandy Lake Township. The girl was 6 or 7 years old when the alleged assaults occurred, a police report said.Nunemaker was arraigned on two count each of indecent assault and corruption of minors. He is free on $10,000 unsecured bail.
Jan. 16 — An unknown thief stole the Pennsylvania license plate YYP-7121 off a pickup truck at a home on Young Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.
