Thompson 90th birthday
Margie Ruth Hoover Thompson of Slippery Rock celebrated her 90th birthday with a family dinner.
The former Margie Ruth Grossman was born Jan. 23, 1921, at home in Clay Township.
She married Merle Hoover on Nov. 18, 1936, in Wellsburg, W.Va. He died May 31, 1975.
She married Harry Thompson on July 1, 1976, in Butler. He died Sept. 6, 1976.
She has two children, Alice Stamm of Butler and James Hoover of West Sunbury. She also has two stepchildren, Harriet Brown of Ford City and Martha Fodor of Zelienople. Another stepchild, Jim Thompson, is deceased.
She has six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and a number of step-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Thompson is a homemaker. She is a good cook, plays piano and enjoys games, flowers and gardening. She also made quilts and all kinds of crafts.
She is a member of First Baptist Church of Butler and the Berean Sunday school class.
She sang in the church choir and was chairwoman of the church and Sunday School Social Committee for many years.
