Teachers
My pay scale was meant for a full time teacher, not a 6 hour/day, 180 day/year job. I guess I didn't make that clear in this post, even though I have stated it in several others, I neglected to put it in the beginning of this one. I thought I had, but after rereading, I guess not. My apologies!
If teachers taught full time, like everyone else, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, 52 weeks/year, 4 weeks off for vacation and 8 paid holidays/yr, they are worth $50,000 - $60,000/yr, yes I agree with that.
As it is they work 6 hours/day - if it doesn't snow, if it does, they work 4 hrs/day, for 180 - or if like you said 5 days more at the beginning of year and 5 days at the end of the year, they work for 190 days. Most teachers I know have side jobs in the summer, so I find it hard to believe they are rewriting their curriculum.
Plus, I really don't know anybody who gets 5 weeks of vacation, I don't care how dedicated, loyal or talented you are...and the $20/month for insurance is a slap in the face for taxpayers when they get their paycheck and look to see how much they pay, when they work twice as many hours.
Suddenly, the numbers are extremely different, aren't they?
I'll ask again - how many students in Butler - which is a rural area, have even physically touched a cow, let alone need the summer off to haul in hay?
