Everett Green
Everett “Fast Eddie” Green, 74, of Evans City died Friday at UPMC Passavant Cranberry, surrounded by his family.
Born March 20, 1936, in Canonsburg, Mr. Green was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the same unit as Elvis who nicknamed him “Pretzel.”
He was an ASA Umpire in Beaver and Butler counties for 30 years and was a well-known DJ in the area.
Mr. Green had been a Midget Football referee in Evans City and was a member of the Cranberry Cup where he umpired benefit games with his friend, Gary Foster.
He also was a member of the Mars VFW and an avid Steeler fan.
He got his nickname “Fast Eddie” from his years of roller skating, especially at the Skate Castle in Butler.
Mr. Green retired from Mine Safety after 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth “Liz” (Young) Green; one daughter, Jacki Barto of Slippery Rock; one son, Tony Green and his wife, Missy, of Ellwood City; four grandchildren, Keith Barto and his wife, Jess, Nikki Kloose and her husband, Nathan, Tonya Barto and Tiffany Barto; two great- grandchildren, Dakota Kloose and Aniya Barto; one brother, Lloyd Green and his wife, Carol, of Evans City; and one sister, Esther Surine of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Vincent.
<B>GREEN</B> — Friends of Everett “Fast Eddie” Green, who died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
