10:01 a.m. Wednesday — A garbage truck driven by Robert Petry, 36, of Grove City struck a car parked on Oak Street, setting off a chain-reaction accident with three other parked vehicles. Petry told police the accident happened when the truck's brakes failed while traveling down a hill.3:16 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Jeffry Eberhardt, 41, of Butler slid on the snow and hit a utility pole along North Main Street.7:03 p.m. Monday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Joshua A. Tackett, 18, of Butler and a car driven by Mary Slaninka, 54, of Saxonburg collided on South Main Street and Pittsburgh Road. Police cited Tackett for not stopping at a red light.2:57 p.m. Monday — An SUV driven by James T. Matuke Jr., 45, and a car driven by Joy Sutton, 45, both of Butler, collided at Morton and Fairview avenues.6:55 p.m. Sunday — A pickup truck driven by Charles Twentier Sr., 50, of Fenelton struck a utility pole along Monroe Street.
11:41 p.m. Tuesday — Two people were hurt when vehicles driven by Chad Peate, 26, of Butler and Linda Heeter, 63, of Prospect collided on snow-covered Route 422 near Route 356.Following the collision, police said, Peate's vehicle hit an embankment and overturned while Heeter's vehicle struck the center cement barrier.Peate and Arthur Johnson, 66, of Prospect, a passenger in Heeter's vehicle, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Police said Peate faces numerous traffic tickets in the crash.Tuesday — Police are seeking help from the public for information into a burglary at 4108 Cypress St. The break-in happened between Sunday and Tuesday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.
3:20 a.m. Wednesday — Catlin J. Adams, 26, of Bruin was arrested for driving under the influence on East Eldorado Road near Maple Furnace Road in Parker Township. Police cited Adams for failure to keep right.4:18 p.m. Monday — Virginia Kelly, 26, of Butler allegedly punched a 55-year-old Petrolia women in the face at a Route 38 home in Washington Township. Police said Kelly is charged with simple assault.11:26 a.m. Monday — Ashley L. Hibbard, 19, of Butler was hurt when the car she was driving hit a culvert and flipped onto its roof on Mahood Road in Clay Township. Hibbard, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury. Police said she was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
8:37 p.m. Tuesday — A tractor-trailer driven by Michael McSpadden, 54, of Bedford, Ky., crashed into a drainage ditch and rolled onto its side on snow-covered Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. Police said McSpadden was cited for a lane violation.6:13 a.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Chad Gatrell, 20, of Cambridge, Ohio, traveled into a ditch and struck an embankment on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. Police said Gatrell was cited for a lane violation.
Jan. 4 — The Slippery Rock Township Building on Route 422 in Lawrence County was burglarized between 8:30 p.m. Jan. 3 and 5:40 a.m. Jan. 4. A police news release said offices were ransacked but did not indicate if any property was stolen.
