Butler Twp Police6:05 a.m. Monday — Kathleen Carothers, 52, of Butler was apparently uninjured when a vehicle hit her as she tried to cross Route 8 South between the Days Inn and Pizza Hut. Carothers, who police said was not hurt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital to be checked out. Herbert Motter, 73, of Butler was driving the vehicle that hit Carothers.10:37 a.m. Sunday — Three separate accidents happened minutes apart when snow suddenly froze on Route 422 at the Delwood Road overpass bridge. Drivers were identified a Terry Stroup, 63, of Chicora; Keith Newman, 49, of Ford City, Armstrong County; and Maureen McGreevy, 18, of Petrolia.8:25 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Nicole Ekas, 26, of Chicora and a sport utility vehicle driven by William Waugaman Jr., 30, of Butler collided at Mercer Road and Bradmoor Lane. Ekas was taken to Butler Memorial with minor injuries.
Grove City Police4:07 p.m. Friday — Police investigated a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of West Main Street and Stewart Avenue. The accident occurred when a vehicle driven by Angela Christy, 22, of Atlantic, Crawford County, ran a stop sign and hit a vehicle driven by Michelle Cadwell, 38, of Grove City.Christy’s vehicle then struck a vehicle, driven by Guy Surrena, 66, of Grove City., which was stopped at the stop sign.Christy was cited for the accident.
State Police, ButlerMonday — Rainey M. Rose, 25, of Butler Township faces drug trafficking charges stemming from a suspected heroin deal April 7, 2009, in Butler.Rose is accused of selling four stamp bags of heroin to an undercover officer on West Jefferson Street, according to court documents. A police informant helped set up the alleged transaction.Rose is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility and possession of a controlled substance.5:21 p.m. Sunday — Megan F. Nunez, 20, of Butler was hurt when the car she was driving crashed over an embankment and into a creek bed along snow-covered Old East Butler Road about one half mile south of Davis Road in Summit Township. Nunez, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury. She was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.2:56 p.m. Sunday — Alexandra M. Foster, 23, of Eau Claire was taken to the hospital after her car crashed and overturned, landing on its roof, on Route 38 in Cherry Valley. Foster, who was not wearing a seat belt, was treated at UPMC Northwest in Venango County for moderate injuries. She was cited for driving at an unsafe sped.1:14 a.m. Friday — An unidentified vehicle struck a natural gas meter after sliding off Bonniebrook Road in Jefferson Township. The unknown driver did not stop after the crash.Thursday — Police charged James Fleischer, 29, of Butler with selling heroin to an undercover officer two years ago on West Locust Street in Butler. A police informant helped set up the alleged drug deal Dec. 5, 2008, according to court documents.Fleischer is accused of selling the officer four stamp bags of heroin for $85. The suspected deal happened within 1,000 feet of a school zone where children were present.Fleischer is charged with delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.3:15 a.m. Jan. 1 — Police want to speak to anyone with information about an assault at The Heights in Slippery Rock Township that left two young men injured. Those with information are to call police at 724-284-8100.Dec. 30 — Someone shot a dog with a .22-caliber rifle in the area of Lessner Lane in Clay Township. The dog survived the shooting that happened between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police.9:24 p.m. Dec. 18 — Matthew S. Fix, 24, of Valencia was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 8 in Penn Township. Fix also faces charges for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
State Police, Mercer12:47 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Samuel D. Richardson, 23, of Slippery Rock crashed and rolled onto its roof on snow-covered Route 258 near Courtney Mill Road in Liberty Township. Richardson, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries. He was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
