Janet Van Gorder
Janet Elizabeth Van Gorder, 91, of Butler, formerly of South Duffy Road, passed away Saturday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born May 19, 1919, in Maple Grove in Clarion County, the daughter of the late Jacob Lewis and Henrietta (Seybert) Priester.
Janet and her husband were charter members of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Acacia Club.
She graduated from Union High School in Rimersburg in 1937 and from the Mason Frederick School of Beauty in Pittsburgh.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn S. (David) Brown of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Bonnie (Richard) Parks of Texas; a son, Robert (Bonnie) Van Gorder of Renfrew; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger Priester of Rimersburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carl Van Gorder, who she married May 16, 1940, and who died Jan. 19, 1988; a brother, Robert Priester; and two sisters, Georgiana Delp and Marian Hindman.
