Alene 'Sis' Parker

Alene Marie "Sis" Parker, 82, of Chicora died Saturday afternoon in the Chicora Medical Center following a lingering illness.

She was born in Oakland Township, July 10, 1928, to the late Paul J. Weiland and the late Anna L. McGinley Weiland.

She was a secretary for Butler County for several years. She had attended The Butler Business College and received her business degree in 1945.

Mrs. Parker was a member of the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora, the Altar-Rosary Society of the church and the Christian Mothers of the church.

She served on the Board of Elections for more than 30 years.

She enjoyed life and playing the organ and piano. She enjoyed her family and friends, traveling and snowmobiling.

Surviving are a daughter, Paula Hutchison and husband, Donald, of Butler; five sons, Lynn Parker and his wife, Sarah, of Chicora, Edward Parker and his wife, Susan, of Chicora, Donald Parker and his wife, Linda, of Dallas, Texas, Roy Parker and his wife, Frances "Fran," of Chicora and Joseph Parker and his wife, Sonya, of Butler; his grandchildren, Jason, Heather, Miranda, Alieanna, Jeremy, Danielle, Nicole, Eric, Christi, Zachary, Tiffany, Ryan, Dylan, Tristyn¸ Skylar, Jessica, Joseph, Timothy, Chris and Andrew; a great-grandson, William Joseph Parker; a sister, Joan Bresnehan of Chicora; a brother, John Weiland of Hooker; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She married William J. Parker on Feb. 3, 1951, and he died July 29, 1987. She also was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, John M. Bresnehan, who died Oct. 6, 2010.

<B>PARKER</B> — Friends of Alene Marie "Sis" Parker, who died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at <B>Steighner Funeral Home</B>, corner of Main and East Slippery Rock streets, Chicora. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 210 N. Main St., Chicora, with the Rev. Joseph Pudichery, pastor, officiating.
