2:18 a.m. today Police arrested John Jameel Jackson, 33, no known address, on charges he assaulted 36-year-old Rebecca A. Scott during a domestic dispute at her West Diamond Street apartment.Just an hour or so earlier, Jackson showed up at Scott's apartment and attacked her. Police were called and spoke to the woman. Officers searched the area but could not find the suspect.Police at 2:18 a.m. were called back to the home and found Scott crying in the hallway. She told police Jackson was inside the apartment. He was arrested and placed in the Butler County Prison to await arraignment on simple assault charges.
7:11 p.m. Tuesday Jeremy Rivera, 19, of East Butler faces theft and drug charges after he allegedly shoplifted a phone charger form the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. Police said a search of the suspect turned up prescription pills for which he did not have a prescription.Rivera faces charges of retail theft and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
12:37 a.m. Wednesday A car driven by Pamela Strickland, 25, of Islip, N.Y., struck a guardrail after it hit a deer on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township.1:56 a.m. Saturday Cynthia Gurska, 47, of Hermitage, Mercer County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Jefferson and Monroe streets in Butler.8:30 p.m. Friday Stephanie Ann Barron, 32, of Cheswick, Allegheny County, was arrested on charges she shoplifted $704 in merchandise from the Boscov's store, Clearview Mall in Center Township.Barron had her 8-year-old daughter with her when she allegedly took the items. She is charged with retail theft and corruption of minors.She was placed in the Butler County Prison after police learned she was wanted on a warrant from Westmoreland County.
4 p.m. Wednesday David J. Warheit, 61, of Freeport was hurt when the motorcycle he was driving crashed on Fisher Sigel Road in Millcreek Township.The crash happened when Warheit was blinded by the sunlight in his eyes. The cycle went off the road and slid for 45 feet before going down an embankment and landing in a creek.Warheit, who was wearing a helmet, came off the bike and landed along the creek. A Clarion Hospital Ambulance crew treated Warheit, who was later flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.He has moderate injuries, He was cited for driving on the wrong side of the road.
Noon Tuesday A Butler County man was attacked with a fork at ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township.Troopers arrested Virgil Pass, 27, no known address, in the alleged assault of 60-year-old Herbert Lefevre of Cabot. The incident happened as Pass, who was patient at the hospital, was being discharged.Pass was arraigned on charges of felony and misdemeanor assault as well as harassment and disorderly conduct. He is in the Armstrong County Jail on $500,000 bail.Police learned Pass was a fugitive from Florida. However, when told of Pass' arrest, Florida authorities told police they would not extradite him there.
9:45 p.m. Tuesday A burglar stole an undisclosed amount of currency after breaking into a Route 19 business in Lawrence County. The suspect who is believed to be a male, at least 6 feet tall with a thin build, pried open the front door of Aluminum & Carbon Plus, Inc., ransacked the building and took the money.
