STUDENT DIRECTORY
Students in grades fourth to eighth from the Butler School District competed in national math and grammar competitions in Cincinnati.
Qualifying junior high students included
Austin Gagliardi, Michael Herschl and
Megan Paul.Qualifying elementary students included
Darius Bopp, Colin Brady, Jonathan Fair, Jacob Hall, Gabe Hershberger, Adam Longdon, Dominic Noel, Jacob Surkosky, Sam Gross, Devin Goehring, Cameron Hilliards, Elijah Peterson and
Timmy Porter.To qualify, students had to finish undefeated and/or on a first-place team at local competitions and regionals.The Academic Games League of America National Competition was held in April.
Jacob Surkosky was undefeated in the individual math competition. The "Butler Eagles" team of Surkosky,
Jonathan Fair, Sam Gross, Jacob Hall and
Dominic Noel made the playoff round for equations.———
Sean Hall of West Sunbury attended the Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Boston.He is an eighth grade student in the Moniteau School District.Sean was first nominated by his sixth grade teacher, Mindy Bish, who recognized him as one of a select group of students with the scholastic merit, maturity and strength of character to represent his school. He attended his first Junior National Young Leaders Conference in 2009 in Washington, D.C., and will attend the 2011 Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Pittsburgh.Sean is the son of Robert and Rhonda Hall of West Sunbury.———
Lauren Hassen is a first-year medical student at the Ohio State University School of Medicine.Hassen graduated in 2008 with a bachelor's in chemistry and psychology from Case Western Reserve University and in 2010 with a master's in public health from the University of Pittsburgh.A 2004 graduate of Seneca Valley School District, she is the daughter of Jeffrey and Jodi Hassen of Cranberry Township.
